In line with the policy introduced in 2024 (see article), Chunghwa Post did not issue any new designs for variable value stamps in 2025 either. With no new designs and the end-of-year SOGO event suspended following the 2023 event, the only activity relevant to our field of study was the special issue marking ROCUPEX 2025 Taichung & R.O.C. – Thailand Stamp Exhibition.
Twenty twenty five (2025), was the fourth time that ROCUPEX, the national philatelic exhibition, had been held alongside the R.O.C.–Thailand Stamp Exhibition. More than just a bilateral philatelic exhibition, these events have a strong cultural dimension and foster exchanges between the philatelic associations of Taiwan and Thailand.
ROCUPEX 2025 took place from June 26th to 30th at Ya Tang Hall, a former distillery converted into an exhibition hall, in Taichung’s Cultural Heritage Park.
To mark all these exhibitions, Chunghwa Post released commemorative stamps and philatelic products, including special editions of variable value stamps.
Thus, for the very first event held in Taichung in 2014, Chunghwa Post issued a design dedicated to the plum blossom (see article, published in VARIABLE 35). For the second ROCUPEX in 2017, again held in Taichung, the event was dedicated to the sika deer (article and VARIABLE 45). The third bilateral exhibition, held at the Taipei Postal Museum in 2019, featured the Formosan serau (article and VARIABLE 54).
And for the fourth event, in 2025, no special design was produced, and instead leftover rolls of two older designs: the snake and the sika deer, produced in 2013 and 2017 respectively, were used.
