CORREOS (Spain & Andorra). The philatelic service releases 2023. Code MDCC

Once again, the Correos philatelic service produced the annual presentation pack for 2023 containing all the ATM designs issued throughout the year. This eighth annual folder includes twelve issues; ten from Spain and two from Andorra (Spanish postal administration).
This interesting pictorial double page foldout folder when closed measures 21cm x 21 cm, and includes information on each issue and images of all the associated special postmarks. The print run is 1,800 folders, with most going to collectors with standing orders for this type of product.

All the designs appear in mint strips, placed in protective stamp mounts, with the programmed four-value set, Tarifa A-A2-B-C for the Correos – Spain issues and Tarifa A-B-C-D for the Correos – Andorra issues.

The stamps include the permanent or temporary imprints programmed at the philatelic kiosk and/or desktop printers on the date of issue, all of them in the Spanish language and without any special graphics.
All sets were printed on December 2023 with the back-office computer system used by the philatelic service. The first two blocks therefore of the code at the bottom of all the stamps in the folder are PDES23 MDCC, followed by the session and stamp numbers.

The philatelic service’s warehousing and production left its premises in the Chamartín mail processing centre (CCP Chamartín) in 2023 to move to a location in the Madrid Barajas airport area. The postal kiosk, installed in the lobby of the CCP Chamartín since 2016, was also moved to the Correos branch 53, on Conde de Peñalver street, in Madrid, at the beginning of April 2022, and later to the neighbouring Clara Campoamor building, the Correos headquarters and the philatelic service’s design and management office. As a result of these changes, from January 2023, the permanent code of the stamps issued by the back-office computer system used by the philatelic service was changed from CHXX (Chamartín, followed by the year number), to the new MDCC (Madrid Clara Campoamor) – see the machine codes table below.
