Eight years ago, the 35th Asian International Philatelic Exhibition, Macau 2018 (see article, published in VARIABLE 50) marked an historic milestone for philately in Macau. It was the first time that this special administrative region in south-east China, a former Portuguese colony, had hosted a major Asian philatelic exhibition. And it was a resounding success, with superb organisation, a high turnout of collections and visitors and, of course, a major boost to the aim of raising Macau’s international profile as a venue for such events.
So much so that in 2026, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT), in collaboration with the Macau Philatelic Club, took a step forward and organised a world philatelic exhibition sponsored by the FIP, MACAU 2026 Specialised World Stamp Exhibition.



But stamp collecting has changed a great deal over the last eight years …
