In 2026, Tusass Greenland Filatelia, Greenland’s philatelic service, had originally planned to dedicate its annual series of variable value stamps to local wildlife. But 2026 was set to be a special year: the series was to be issued to coincide with Tusass Greenland’s participation in the Boston 2026 World Expo in the United States – perhaps not the best time in the light of relations between the US and Greenland – and so it was decided to replace the wildlife theme with a tribute to the national flag.
The four designs in the series are photographs by the artist Miki Jacobsen and the photographer Chris Christophersen. The rolls of thermal self-adhesive labels are manufactured by the Danish company Limo Labels A/S, using flexographic printing and with perforations around the illustrations only. To the right of the illustration there is a white strip with a security background with the name of the postal administration, tusass, printed in light grey.
The name of the flag in Greenlandic is Erfalasorput, which translates as ‘our flag’. It was designed by the politician Thue Christiansen and was officially adopted on June 21st 1985.
As in previous years, Tusass Greenland released the new series at the major philatelic event at which it participated in 2026, in this case the Boston 2026 World Expo (see article). Tusass Greenland was the only
