The seventh issue in the Chinese zodiac special series of variable value stamps issued annually by Singapore Post features the ‘Horse’. The Year of the Fire Horse begins in 2026.
Following on from the initial introductory design (see article, published in VARIABLE 51), further issues were released in 2020 dedicated to the Year of the Rat (article and VARIABLE 56), in 2021 the Year of the Ox (article and VARIABLE 60), in 2022 the Year of the Tiger (article and VARIABLE 64), in 2023 the Year of the Rabbit (article), in 2024 the Year of the Dragon (article) & in 2025 the Year of the Snake (article).

The Chinese Zodiac calendar is based on five cycles each of 12 years. Each cycle is tempered by one of the five Chinese elements; metal, wood, water, fire and earth, and each year features one of the twelve animal signs of the zodiac. The Horse is the seventh sign in the Zodiac series. The Year of the Fire Horse began on February 17th 2026 and will end on February 5th 2027.
